HR offers 2 chess sessions, Chess Fall and Chess Winter , which comprise of 6 or more chess lessons from teachers from the Saint Louis Chess Club and Scholastic Center. Fall chess lessons run from October to December, and Winter chess lessons run from January to March.

Registration in either or both sessions allows you to compete in any or all of the four CYC chess tournaments held monthly from December through March. All qualifying chess players will play in the final tournament held at the end of March. No prior knowledge of chess is required, and participation in the tournaments  are optional.
