Catholic Women’s League

The CWL is governed by a board which meets quarterly from August through May of each year. The board organizes social activities and fundraising events for the parish. All women parishioners are invited to volunteer for any or all of these activities. Money raised by the social and fundraising efforts of the CWL is allocated in May of each year to various parish and outreach programs. Together the members of the CWL make a difference in our parish and in our community while developing friendships.

The Parish Progressive Dinner is an annual event sponsored by the CWL, with invitations to all parishioners. Usually held at the end of January, attendees “travel” to a cocktail/appetizer party, dinner party and dessert destination hosted in the homes of fellow parishioners.

The Fish Fry is held during Lent and sponsored by the CWL. In addition to wonderful fried cod, smoked salmon is our specialty.

Marthas & Marys provides luncheons following funerals at Holy Redeemer. Volunteers provide side dishes and desserts. The CWL provides the main entrees.

Honor Guard provides a candlelight honor guard during the entrance and recessional at the funeral Mass of any woman of the parish.

Church Cleaning is the CWL’s one half-day effort to prepare the church for Easter. It is generally held on a weekday in Lent.

Altar Care provides service in the sacristy and sanctuary by volunteers who have weekly duties.

St. Patrick’s Center Casserole Program for the Homeless provides a simple spaghetti and meat sauce casserole once a month.

CWL Activities Committee helps put on the social events throughout the year, including the CWL Fall Bash, Advent by Candlelight and the Lenten Morning of Reflection.
